The history
The historic Duke of Dare Motor Lodge has been revitalised as the Heart of Manteo Motor Lodge. We kept its old-world charm and refined the living spaces, so the rooms feel new without losing what made the place worth keeping.
You are minutes from downtown attractions — the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse, the North Carolina Aquarium and the waterfront boardwalk — with local seafood restaurants nearby and the Piggly Wiggly right next door.
Weekly, monthly and long-stay rates
We offer weekly, monthly and long-stay rates, plus AARP, military, veteran and corporate discounts. These are not published online — call the front desk and we will quote you directly.

Nearby
Roanoke Island packs four centuries of history into a short drive — and the waterfront is a walk away.
Within the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, the Elizabethan Gardens spread over ten acres of botanical and sculptural marvels. Serene surroundings and real natural beauty — a favourite for weddings and engagements.
At the eastern end of the Manteo waterfront, the lighthouse reaches almost 37 metres into Roanoke Sound. Walk the boardwalk and take in the waterfront while you are there.
Twenty-five acres showing how the early English settlers lived in 1585. The highlight, especially for children, is the Elizabeth II — a ship like the one that carried the 117 lost colonists to the new world in 1586.
Book direct for our own rates, or call the front desk if you would rather talk it through — especially for a long stay, a group, or a room for you and two pets.
