Accessibility
How this website is built to be usable with a screen reader, a keyboard or at a larger text size, and how to tell us when something is not.
This page describes the website, not the buildings. For questions about accessible rooms, parking or ground-floor access, please call the front desk on +1 (252) 423-3130.
What we build to
This site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA. Every page is tested automatically against that standard at three screen widths — 320, 390 and 1440 pixels — and the build is not released with a known violation outstanding.
That testing covers:
- Text contrast against its background, at AA ratios.
- Alternative text on every image. This is enforced when the site is built: a photograph added without a description fails the build rather than reaching you.
- Keyboard navigation. Every control can be reached and operated without a mouse, and the focused element is always visible.
- Tap targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels for standalone controls.
- Text that scales. Nothing here disables pinch-zoom, and the layout holds when text is enlarged.
- Headings and landmarks in a real order, so a screen reader can navigate the page by structure.
What is not done yet
Automated testing catches a great deal, but not everything. We have not yet completed a manual review with a screen reader, and some of our photography still needs richer descriptions written by someone who knows the property.
Tell us
If something here is difficult to use with a screen reader, a keyboard, or at a larger text size, please tell us on +1 (252) 423-3130 or hom@visitobx.com. That is a fault we want to fix, not a complaint we want to manage.
